Our lead advisor Stephanie Darrington Bailey loves to help young adults learn financial planning basics! She recently participated in the Financial Planning Community Project (Ohio) that connects finance students from OSU, Franklin University, and Columbus State with professionals to provide pro bono financial planning sessions to student clients in need of financial advice. Stephanie has also talked with Army cadets and their spouses in her home state of Utah to discuss emergency funds, saving for retirement, credit scores, and Roth IRAs. Stephanie says: “I think about if I had this knowledge at that age, what a difference it would have made!” We are grateful for Stephanie for generously sharing her time and knowledge, and for empowering young adults to secure their own future and to help others, now and down the road, do the same.

We are celebrating how The Women's Fund of Central Ohio supports women and community! Kristen, founder of NorthAvenue, serves on The Women's Fund board and experiences firsthand what it takes to mobilize partnerships like this one with Action for Children. This is the largest one-time grant in the history of The Women's Fund, and this partnership highlights the importance of helping our young people - and those who care for them - feel seen and heard. Taking action like this in places where women already excel allows them to grow their good work, honor culture, and ensure local / global communities thrive.

The Ohio Department of Taxation is aware of this scam and has posted an alert on their official website: https://tax.ohio.gov/

We recognize we have many clients outside of Ohio; however, we want all of our clients to be on high alert for scams. If you do not live in Ohio and receive similar messages, please do not respond and instead check your state's department of taxation website for scam alert notices or reach out to us if you are still unsure. We are happy to help our clients stay safe!

Earlier this August, our own Jeff Theado participated in his 12th Pelotonia bike ride, an event raising money for cancer research at Ohio State. He rode 100 miles from downtown Columbus to Kenyon College on Saturday with friends John and Cody - all three are pictured here sporting their stylish NorthAvenue Financial Advocates bike jerseys that Jeff designed - and the next day Jeff rode 90 miles back to New Albany.

Jeff participates in Pelotonia every year and once he hits this year’s fundraising goal he will have raised just shy of $40,000 all time. Thank you, Jeff, for all you do for cancer research and for NorthAvenue!
