Why do I coach?
There are so many reasons, but at the heart of it…because of the kids. ❤️
I coach to make an impact. To be someone who encourages them, challenges them, believes in them, and hopefully leaves them a little better than I “found” them.
I coach to instill positivity and promote teamwork - because sports have a way of teaching lessons that go way beyond the scoreboard. How to communicate. How to support your teammates. How to celebrate someone else’s success. How to be part of something bigger than yourself.
I coach to help kids build fundamentals and develop skills they can carry with them for years to come. Not just the skills of the game, but leadership, confidence, resilience, discipline and the ability to keep going when things get tough.
I coach because I love kids, I love sports and I love sharing that passion with the next generation. But, some of my favorite moments have nothing to do with the game itself. They’re the amazing friendships that are formed, the confidence that grows, the kid who finally believes they can do something they once thought they couldn’t, and the memories they’ll carry with them long after the season ends.
And, I coach to give back.
I’ve been fortunate to have some incredible coaches, leaders and mentors in life who’ve invested their time, energy and belief in me. They taught me lessons that extend far beyond sports, and I’m grateful for the impact they had on me. Coaching is one of the ways I can pay that forward!
And the funny thing about coaching? I’m still learning, too.
Every season, every team and every kid teaches me something. Coaching challenges me to become a better communicator, leader, mentor and person. I may be there to help kids grow, but they continue to help me grow right alongside them.
That’s why I keep showing up.
For the kids.
For the community.
For the friendships.
For the lessons.
For the growth.
For the memories.
And hopefully, for the opportunity to make a difference that lasts long after the final whistle. 🏆
