🚨 Medicare & GLP-1 Drugs: Important CMS Update 🚨

CMS has officially released information regarding the new Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program, designed to help eligible beneficiaries access certain GLP-1 medications during a transition period leading up to 2027.

GLP-1 medications such as:
✅ Foundayo
✅ Wegovy
✅ Zepbound

continue to create major changes in Medicare Prescription Drug Plans due to rising demand and cost.

⚠️ Important:
The Medicare GLP-1 Bridge is NOT part of the standard Medicare Part D benefit. CMS has confirmed this program operates separately from normal Part D coverage and payment rules.

Things beneficiaries should understand:
🔹 Coverage depends on diagnosis and FDA-approved use
🔹 Weight-loss coverage rules are different from diabetes coverage
🔹 Prior authorizations may apply
🔹 Out-of-pocket costs under the GLP-1 Bridge do NOT count toward the Part D deductible or annual out-of-pocket maximum
🔹 Medicare drug plan costs and premiums may continue changing over the next several years
