Rainy weather couldn't dampen the excitement at Sunday's Assist for Kids Dek Hockey event! 🏒☔

Families showed up, the kids hit the rink, and Patrice Bergeron spent the day playing alongside participants, creating memories they'll be talking about for years to come.

To top it all off, each child received a gift card from Franklin Sports and a signed puck from Patrice.

Through programs like Assist for Kids, Avidia is proud to help create opportunities that bring families together. Thank you to Leominster Dek Hockey for hosting and to everyone who came out and made the day so special.

That's why supporting local organizations has always been part of who we are.

Through the Avidia Charitable Foundation, we're proud to support nonprofits that create meaningful, lasting change throughout our communities. One of those organizations is Open Table, whose mission is to provide healthy food and compassion to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity.

Recently, our donation helped Open Table purchase a second cargo van, allowing them to expand food donation pickups and grocery deliveries to even more neighbors in need.

It's more than a vehicle—it's more opportunities to rescue food, more groceries delivered, and more people supported.

April 22 marks 56 years of celebrating Earth Day.

There are many ways and many benefits to adopting Earth-friendly practices. In 2023, the Institute for Agriculture & Trade Policy estimated that if all households in the US made the switch to paperless payments, we would be able to save about 2.3 million tons of wood.

🔎 Sign up for estatements. Login to your online banking portal to opt-in to receive your tax forms and monthly statements straight to your email.

🥗 Eat a meat-free meal once a week. According to the University of Colorado Boulder’s Environmental Center, going meat-free at least once a week helps conserve 133 gallons of water and reduces your carbon footprint by 8 pounds. It also helps save on your monthly grocery bill.

🧍‍♂️ Utilize Pay A Person more often. Go digital and send your friends your half of last night’s dinner bill with Pay A Person. Stay tuned for some upcoming enhancements!

April is financial literacy month, but did you also know that Thursday, April 23rd, is also Teach Children to Save Day?

Teach Children to Save Day is focused on teaching school-aged children financial responsibility.

All month long, we’re sharing tips and tools to help parents teach their children about saving, spending, and other important financial topics.

Next Thursday, we’re joining the American Banking Association in teaching local school-aged youth important financial literacy skills that will set them up for a secure future.

On April 23rd, we’re inviting all parents to stop by any Avidia Bank location near you for a day of learning and fun. We’ll have activities, savings tools, and financial literacy books you can read to your children of any age.

Teaching your kids about financial literacy? Protecting from fraud should be at the top of your list.

Follow these rules of thumb as you teach your children about how to be smart with their money and future:

🤫 The best password is one that you can remember and isn’t too personal that a hacker can guess. When signing up for online banking, be sure you’re creating a password that is 12-16 characters long, consisting of a variety of characters (UPPERCASE, lowercase, m!x3D)

🔒Never log in to your online banking portals when you’re connected to public, non-secure wifi (like the one at your local library)

💬 Getting a text from your bank? If it sounds suspicious, like asking you to take an immediate action, don’t click on any links. Instead, call your bank directly.

It’s never too early to learn financial principles and how to stay safe online.

Meet Carmen, Branch Manager of our Clinton Branch!

A native of Peru, she immigrated to the United States in 1990 and started working for Avidia in 2004 (back when we were Hudson Savings Bank). “Coming to a new country, culture, language and surroundings was a challenge… but I was very fortunate to arrive in the small community of Clinton.” Over 30 years later and she’s met many people she calls friends.

What does Carmen’s Peruvian heritage mean to her?

“My heritage, it is important to me to always remember where I come from. This is what I taught my two daughters, to appreciate who they are and appreciate other people no matter where they come from. My daughters are able to speak my native language, Spanish, which has allowed them to travel back to Peru for visits and really enjoy the culture. ”
