UCC Church Building & Loan Fund God is still building, and we're here to help. At the United Church of Christ Church Building & Loan Fund, we help finance the present and future church.

And we help to create the places where people of faith gather together for worship, service, and community transformation. The Church Building & Loan Fund is dedicated to assisting new and renewing congregations with loan programs, capital campaign services, planning (Partners in Building) and technical assistance programs (Partners in Vision), as well as a list of other services and programs. We

offer financing for the purchase, construction, or renovation of church buildings, meeting houses, parsonages/rectories and other facilities used by churches of not only the United Church of Christ, but also any Christian church -- without limitation to sect, denomination or name. We assist churches with land site purchases, existing building purchases, renovations, energy improvements, environmental upgrades, and building construction. By providing information, education, consulting services, and low-cost financing to young, emerging and renewing congregations, the Church Building & Loan Fund fulfills its purpose of advancing the Gospel's mission. Founded in 1853, the organization that is now the Church Building & Loan Fund was the first church building loan fund in the United States. We are financially strong and operate according to current banking standards and regulatory requirements; however, we do not charge fees or points on any of our loan products. In addition to financing, we offer products and services that most banks do not provide to churches. Today, more than 550 churches from across the United States are our loan partners -- from Maine to California, and everywhere in between. We make loans of up to $2.5 million at below-market interest rates, and we can partner with other lenders for larger projects. We have funds available for immediate disbursement, and we are ready to serve your church.

Last month, our very own Rev. Dr. Susan Mitchell, Minister & Team Leader, Strategic Initiatives, attended the UCC Southeast Conference Annual Meeting in Atlanta, August 20–23.

"I'm feeling blessed and inspired to have had the opportunity to be there to connect with so many brilliant people dedicated to expanding our ministry and mission" — Susan Mitchell.

The group celebrated 60 years of ministry together at the historic First Congregational Church of Atlanta, one of the oldest African American Congregational churches in the United States, with deep roots in the work of the American Missionary Association.

We made connections and shared strategies to benefit churches and communities.

Today we celebrate National Nonprofit Day and recognize the organizations—and the people behind them—working every day to strengthen communities.

Churches and faith-based organizations have long been at the heart of that work, serving neighbors, fostering belonging, advocating for justice, and creating spaces where people can flourish.

We're looking forward to attending the UCC Southeast Conference Annual Meeting in Atlanta, August 20–23, as the conference celebrates 60 years of ministry together.

Today, on the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples, we recognize and celebrate the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of Indigenous communities around the world.

As people of faith, we are called to listen with humility, build authentic relationships, and honor the wisdom and leadership of Indigenous peoples. Strong communities are built through mutual respect, shared learning, and a commitment to walking alongside one another.

As we prepare to visit our Alaska church partners later this month, we're especially mindful of the opportunity to listen, learn, and strengthen relationships rooted in faith and community.

Church Building & Loan Fund’s signature training event “Partners in Building” is returning for 2026. The event will be held online on October 14th & 15th.

CB&LF has hosted “Partners in Building” since 2007, and it is the only church-led, faith-oriented event that provides comprehensive education about real estate redevelopment from concept to completion.
Partners in Building provides church leaders with training on how to grow their missions and use their churches’ resources to the fullest extent — helping them realize they have numerous opportunities to broaden their impact and transform communities through spiritual entrepreneurship and community development initiatives.
