Here’s to 50 years of index investing! 🎉
What began as a bold idea in 1976 has transformed the way millions invest today. When John C. Bogle launched the first index mutual fund for individual investors, the goal was simple: give investors a low-cost, diversified way to participate in the market rather than trying to consistently outperform it.
The idea wasn’t an immediate success, but today, index investing plays an important role in portfolios, retirement plans, and 529 education savings plans across the country.
We’re celebrating 50 years of an idea that helped make investing more accessible, and continues to shape how people invest today.
