Applications are open for our 2027 Academic Scholarships. Each year, this program helps aspiring public finance professionals take the next step toward meaningful careers in state, provincial and local government. For 2027, we'll award $130,000 across 11 academic scholarships in five categories to support undergraduate and graduate students pursuing studies in government finance, public administration, governmental accounting and public service.

By investing in students today, we're helping strengthen the future of the profession and building the next generation of leaders who will serve our communities.

Congratulations to Todd Hurley, a recipient of GFOA’s 2026 Outstanding Public Service recognition! With nearly 40 years in public service, Todd has dedicated his career to strengthening the community he grew up in. From serving in Saint Paul’s finance department to becoming president of the Saint Paul Port Authority, he has helped finance major public projects, support neighborhood redevelopment, maintain the City’s AAA credit rating, and modernize financial operations.
