Cash bond or surety bond — which actually costs less?
Here's the honest answer, and it isn't what you'd expect from a bondsman.
💰 IN PURE DOLLARS, A CASH BOND COSTS LESS. You post the full amount with the
court, and when the case ends most of it comes back, minus court costs and fines.
📄 A SURETY BOND IS CHEAPER UP FRONT. You pay a percentage instead of the whole
amount. But that percentage is a fee. It never comes back.
So why does anyone use us?
Because a cash bond means having $10,000 or $20,000 available — and frozen for
months while the case runs. Money that was already spoken for. Rent. A lawyer.
The mortgage.
Most families don't have that sitting idle.
Cheaper up front isn't cheaper overall. Now you know both, and you can pick the
trade-off that actually fits.
