As an overthinking mama and special education teacher I could not just pick a daycare and hope for the best.

So I made a list. Then I brought it to my community and mamas, aunties, and grandmothers who have been through this added to it until it became something real.

The result is a free PDF checklist of questions you should be asking every childcare provider before you sign anything. This was built specifically for daycare tours but the questions apply anywhere you are trusting someone with your child.

One thing I want you to know that is not on the checklist: you can check for active investigations and verify up to date licenses through your state. Just Google your state name followed by childcare license lookup and make the call.

That information is public and you have every right to it.

Comment CHECKLIST below and I will send you the free PDF straight to your DMs.💕💕

5 things I’m doing for Baby K right now ✨

1. Library dates… not just for books. Our library has free toddler activities, coloring, therapy dogs, group reading. It costs nothing and he loves it.

2. $100/month into his 529 and it goes up $50 every 6 months. Starting small is still starting.

3. A savings account in HIS name. Kids Savings it’s his, it earns 2.5%, we put $50/ month there.

4. A solid routine, morning and night. Predictable structure matters more than people realize at this age.

5. A dedicated activity sinking fund. He’s already done swim. This summer we’re trying everything and it’s all funded before we go. No scrambling, no guilt, just showing up.

‼️ also mama is taking care of HER so I can continue to do all this ish🤣

I got a lot of truths I need to reveal… A lot of feelings I need to validate… And maybe you didn’t come here for this, but I hope it helps someone who’s currently on their journey!!!

I’m always cheering for the people next to me, in front of me, years ahead of me, and those behind me. I genuinely love to see women killing it, and in the same breath, I can also be honest and think what am I not doing? That’s my reality. I’m not about to fake it.🤷🏾‍♀️

i’ve always felt like the girl who works really hard and always almost gets there. I have literally worked for every single thing. I am not the lucky girl. I know that and I fight hard for everything I have.

Drop it in the comments 👇🏾 What did you look for when choosing childcare? What questions did you ask before trusting someone with your baby?

Because sis… we have had to pause our home savings goal. We spent around $51,000 over the last year and a half on childcare and I cannot believe I just said that out loud. 🥴🤣

And no, I do not regret a single dollar of it.

‼️ I need the mama’s who pays for their child(ren) to chime in

Splitting household bills might seem fair, but when you have kids, it’s just not enough! 💸 Did you know the average cost of raising a child from birth to 18 is over $240,000? That’s before college! Expenses like child care, school supplies, and extracurriculars add up fast, and they’re not always split evenly when you’re the primary caregiver.

Here are 3 ways to have this conversation with your partner:

1️⃣ Review the numbers together: Sit down and list every household and child-related expense. Be transparent about how much things really cost (like groceries, clothes, and activities).

2️⃣ Divide responsibilities proportionally: Use a percentage of your combined income to fairly split household and child costs instead of going 50/50. For example, if one partner earns 60% of the total income, they’d cover 60% of the costs.

3️⃣ Set up a joint sinking fund for extra expenses: Agree on who covers one-off or seasonal costs (like back-to-school supplies or sports fees) to avoid last-minute arguments.

💡 Use tools like spreadsheets or budgeting apps to track everything and ensure clarity. Kids are a shared responsibility, and so is the cost of having them💕💕.

At the time NYC apartments were going for $2,100 a month for less square footage.

One year of rent would have cost me $25,200.
That was almost my entire down payment!

we have currently stopped our search for a house or a 2-3 bedroom apartment for now while we save and invest more but having $100,000 in equity will definitely help towards the down payment of our next property!
