Legacy Group Financial Advisors: Joe Boyd Our full-service firm specializes in helping individuals develop sound retirement strategies. Life looks different for every individual and every family.

We educate our clients about financial concepts and products, and take the mystery out of investing, insurance, estate conservation, and preserving wealth. Most of us want things to be easier to understand and accomplish, but we also value working with people who see us as individuals and genuinely care about our unique needs. As the owner of The Legacy Group, I bring integrity, dedication, and personalized financial guidance to each client. My approach is rooted in honesty, ensuring that the strategies we develop align with your goals, values, and long-term vision. My wife, Teresa, and I have been together for over 20 years, and we are blessed with three incredible children. Balancing my professional responsibilities with being present at every family event, sharing meals together, and serving our church is something I take great pride in. I never want anyone to feel like an afterthought, whether in my personal life or professional relationships. I truly enjoy helping others plan wisely for their future. I like to work with kind-hearted individuals who genuinely need assistance, including small business owners, families, retirees, and individuals preparing for retirement. I also serve those who see themselves as younger, older, or anywhere in between, as well as those who have worked hard to build great wealth and those at other navigation points on their financial and life journey. As a teacher and leader, I believe in lifelong learning and applying wisdom to every decision. Whether it’s retirement planning, investment strategies, or wealth preservation, my goal is to simplify complex financial matters so you can focus on what truly matters to you. Beyond my work, I am passionate about mentorship, community service, and personal growth. I enjoy volunteering, guiding young professionals, and spending time outdoors with my family. Building lasting relationships based on trust, transparency, and care shape how I do business and life. At Legacy Group Financial Advisors, we are more than just financial advisors—we are partners in your financial and life journey, committed to helping you create a lasting legacy.

529 plans are designed for education but can be used for K-12 tuition, trade schools, apprenticeships, and student loan repayment. Unused funds can also be rolled into a Roth IRA for the beneficiary under certain conditions. The account is more versatile than it was even a few years ago.

An emergency fund needs to be liquid, stable, and separate from everyday spending. Its purpose is to cover unexpected expenses without disrupting your financial plan. The right amount depends on your income stability, fixed obligations, and how quickly you could replace income if needed.

A fiduciary financial advisor is legally obligated to put your interests ahead of their own and to disclose conflicts of interest. Understanding whether the professionals you work with are held to a fiduciary standard is one of the more important questions to ask when evaluating a financial relationship.

Volatility is a normal part of investing, not an exception to it. Historically, markets have experienced significant declines followed by periods of recovery, though the timing and depth of each cycle has varied considerably. How an investor responds during a downturn often has more impact on long-term outcomes than the downturn itself.

Contributions to a Health Savings Account are tax-deductible, growth is tax-free, and qualified withdrawals are tax-free. Used as a long-term investment vehicle rather than a spending account, it can become a meaningful source of tax-free retirement funds for healthcare costs.

The period between leaving work and starting required minimum distributions can be a low-income window where converting traditional IRA funds to Roth makes sense. The conversion is taxable, but managing the amount each year to stay within a target bracket is a deliberate and plannable strategy.

A diversified portfolio doesn't guarantee against loss. What it does is reduce the likelihood that one investment, sector, or geography can significantly damage the whole. Spreading across uncorrelated assets is one of the most straightforward ways to manage risk over time.

Creating a financial plan is a meaningful step, but its value comes from returning to it as your life evolves. Tax laws change, goals shift, family circumstances change, and markets move. A plan reviewed and updated regularly remains relevant; one created once and filed away becomes a historical document.

Reacting to market news means making immediate decisions driven by emotion. Responding means taking in new information, evaluating it against your plan, and acting only if a change is genuinely warranted. Most financial news doesn't require a portfolio decision - but it often triggers one anyway.

A financial plan that only works when markets cooperate, income stays steady, and nothing unexpected happens isn't a plan - it's a projection. Building in buffers for adverse scenarios is what separates a plan that holds up from one that requires constant rebuilding.
