Huge new course records yesterday at the world's biggest ultra - Comrades! 5:15 for George Kusche and 5:44 for Gerda Steyn (breaking her own record and getting her 5th win).

This year was the 'Up Run' from Durban to Pietermaritzburg and was a couple of kms shorter than typical at a little under 86km (53 miles), but the times were still the best ever when allowing for that.

In addition, one of our long-time runners, Hideo Takano, completed his 23rd Comrades. Only 3 international runners have more finishes!

At the 2026 Comrades Marathon, South Africans George Kusche and Gerda Steyn set new course records.
