Big news out of the courts for Texas physicians: this August, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals sided with the Texas Medical Association in its fourth successful legal challenge over how the No Surprises Act’s payment dispute process works.

The ruling struck down a formula that allowed insurers to artificially lower the benchmark used in billing disputes, a significant win for physicians navigating out-of-network care. This decision marks an important development in the ongoing work to advocate for Texas physicians.
