How Much You Save Matters. How You Use It Matters Too
When we think about retiring, the conversation often starts with one question:
“How much money do I need?”
But there’s another question that may be just as important:
“How will I turn my savings into income?”
Planning for our golden years involves more than building an account balance. You also need to think about:
How much income will you need each month?
When will you begin Social Security?
How will you manage taxes?
Which accounts should you draw from first?
How will you handle market volatility?
How will healthcare and other unexpected expenses affect your plan?
What happens if you live longer than expected?
Two people could retire with the same amount of savings and have very different outcomes depending on how they manage those assets.
The goal isn't simply to accumulate money. It's to create a strategy for turning the resources you've built into income that supports the lifestyle you envision.
📞 If you're approaching your leisure phase—or already retired—it may be worth reviewing not just what you've saved, but how your savings are expected to work for you.
Saving for your golden years is step one. Creating an income strategy is another important part of the conversation.
