Thank you to the great folks at NVE for continuing to find new ways to connect our community to our traditions and the resources our incredible home provides.

🐟 OCEAN TO TABLE: COPPER RIVER SOCKEYE PILOT 🐟

The Native Village of Eyak Food Sovereignty Department is launching a new pilot program to purchase fresh Copper River sockeye salmon directly from Tribal fishermen participating in the ADFG Catcher-Seller permit system. This program creates a legal pathway to bring locally harvested fish directly from Tribal fishermen to Tribal households, while supporting our fishermen and keeping more Copper River salmon in our own community.

✨ Each Tribal household may receive up to 5 whole sockeye salmon
📍 Fish will be provided during June commercial openers, based on availability

This is one more step toward strengthening local food sovereignty, supporting Tribal fishermen, and keeping our traditional foods close to home.
More details coming soon!
