Heads up, Texas drivers: fall brings more deer movement, especially around dawn and dusk. 🦌

Wherever the road takes you this season, keep these TxDOT reminders in mind:

• See one? Watch for more. Deer often travel in groups. Slow down when you spot one near the road.

• Brake safely. Don’t swerve. Stay in your lane and brake firmly when safe to do so. Swerving can lead to a more serious crash.

One insurance detail worth checking: damage from directly hitting a deer is typically covered under comprehensive coverage, subject to your policy’s terms and deductible. Liability-only coverage doesn’t pay for that damage to your own vehicle.
