Come see what community looks like. 🚲🏡

This Saturday, Nov. 7, Homewise is opening the doors at Los Canales during Cranksgiving Santa Fe! We built Los Canales as Santa Fe’s 100% affordable, multimodal community, right on the Santa Fe River Trail, with pedestrian-friendly streets, open space and easy connections to trails and transit. Stop by the open house and see what we’ve built.

We’ll have a fire pit going with hot cocoa and marshmallows, so come warm up and “toast” Los Canales with us. 🔥

Homewise is a proud sponsor of Cranksgiving Santa Fe 2026, a food-drive bike ride where 100% of the food goes to The Food Depot to feed families across northern New Mexico. Los Canales is a stop on this year’s “Who Killed Tom the Turkey?” mystery route, so watch for pedal-powered detectives rolling through. 🦃🔍

📍 2190 W Alameda St, Santa Fe
🕚 11 am – 2 pm
🅿️ Coming for the open house? Park at Frenchy’s Park, then head over on the River Trail.
Need accessible parking or other accommodations? Call 505-983-9473.

Sign up to ride at cranksgivingsantafe.com. Learn more about Los Canales at homewise.org

Friday was one of our favorite days of the year. 🎃

Thank you for bringing your kids, your costumes, and your Halloween spirit. Thank you for making our very first Trunk or Treat feel like a block party. And a huge thank-you to our Homewise teams who spent their Friday in full costume handing out candy to hundreds of very excited small people. 😄

We love when our community comes together like this, and we’re already looking forward to doing it again.

Hope you all had a wonderful Halloween! 🧡

Last week at Deer Tail II ✂️🏡

On October 15, we joined Pueblo de San Ildefonso and the San Ildefonso Housing Authority to celebrate the ribbon cutting for the Deer Tail II subdivision. It’s a historic milestone for homeownership on Pueblo land in New Mexico.

Thank you to Governor Moquino for welcoming us, to Senator Ben Ray Luján’s office for being there, and to homeowners Pauline Montoya and Beverly Brown for sharing what this moment means to their families. Our Chief Growth Officer, Elena Gonzales, was honored to speak alongside partners from HUD’s Office of Native American Programs and Fannie Mae.

A home is never just a house. It’s belonging, identity and legacy. 🧡

That’s a wrap on the 2026 Livability Speaker Series. 🔑

Thank you to everyone who joined us at SITE SANTA FE for Room to Grow, Room to Stay with Ned Resnikoff and to every neighbor who showed up across all four conversations this year.

Ned reminded us that the pressures facing our cities didn’t happen by accident, which means they aren’t permanent either. The housing we build, the streets we design, the decisions we make locally — those are choices and choices can change.

The conversation doesn’t end here. Santa Fe is writing its own version of this story, and it takes all of us.

See you in 2027. 🧡

Congratulations to Leah and Tim, Homewise’s newest homeowners! 🏡🔑

Leah started working with us in October 2025. With help from her Homeownership Advisor, Maria, and her loan officer, Louisa, she worked steadily to strengthen her finances and pay down her student loans. When the time was right, Leah and Tim decided to apply together. Tim also joined our Credit Savings Building Program to help them reach their goal.

Leah and Tim were living out of town for the whole process, but they still traveled in during the week to look for the right home. That commitment paid off. Today they’re proud first-time homeowners!

Leah and Tim, we wish you many happy years in your forever home. 🧡

Straight from Ned himself. 🎥 Ned Resnikoff — author, advocate, and journalist — is coming to Santa Fe for the final Livability Speaker Series event of the year, and he's giving us a preview of what he'll cover.

Room to Grow, Room to Stay

📍 SITE Santa Fe, 1606 Paseo de Peralta
🎟️ Free, ticketed event
👶 Childcare + interpretation provided
🍹 Drinks & snacks to follow

Rising costs. Neighbors priced out. A city getting harder to afford. None of it happened by accident and none of it is permanent. Ned will walk us through how we got here and what's already working in cities making room for everyone.

Free and ticketed, and we expect it to sell out. Childcare and interpretation provided. 🎟️

CLOSED GIVEAWAY: 🎈 Lifting New Mexico, one family at a time.

Monday, Oct 5 is New Mexico Free Day at Balloon Fiesta — free general admission for New Mexicans with a NM photo ID or a utility bill. The only thing standing between you and a dawn patrol morning is parking.

So we partnered with the Anderson Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum to add even more to your experience. Discover the history, science and wonder behind ballooning at the Museum. For a full list of events, visit CABQ.gov/Balloon/Events to see what is happening! Two experiences, one unforgettable day. Five New Mexico families will each win:

🎟️ A family pass to the Balloon Museum — entry for 4, good any date
🚗 A parking pass for Monday, Oct 5

TO ENTER:
1️⃣ Follow Homewise and The Balloon Museum
2️⃣ Like this post
3️⃣ Comment and tag the person you'd bring

Entries close Tuesday, Sept 29. Winners announced by DM.

Lifting families is sort of our whole thing. Usually that looks like a mortgage someone was told they'd never qualify for. This week it looks like five hundred balloons over a Monday morning. We're glad to help with both. 🧡
