The IRS is suspending payments for excess Premium Tax Credits given to People insured by the ACA (Obamacare) for the plan year of 2020. Those who have already filed their taxes for 2020 will be reimbursed on their tax return.

The Internal Revenue Service is suspending a requirement for taxpayers who received too much on their advance payments for the Premium Tax Credit last year to repay the excess amount.

The COVID-19 Special Enrollment period (SEP) for obtaining coverage through the Affordable Care Act (ACA) that was originally set to expire on May 15th, 2021 has now been extended again for a new end date of August 15th, 2021. This is to help those that have been affected by the pandemic who are having difficulty getting access to health coverage, as well as help people take advantage of the new increase in subsidies (also known as Annual Premium Tax Credit or APTC) that was included in the passing of the $1.9trillion stimulus package to help pay lower premiums and be able to afford a plan with a lower deductible which is set to go into affect on April 1st, 2021. The New Mexico Medical Insurance Pool (NMMIP) was established in 1987 by the New Mexico State Legislature. The Pool was created to provide access to health insurance coverage to ALL New Mexico residents who are denied health insurance and deemed uninsurable. Due to either immigration status or insufficient documentation. Enrollment in this health insurance will have no effect on the immigration status of those who are currently undocumented. To be eligible, you must be a New Mexico resident with a permanent street address. There are several plans to choose from, to apply you will need to provide your 2019 or 2020 taxes. Starting on February 15th through May 15h there will be a new special Enrollment Period to enroll in the ACA (Obamacare) for everyone due to the COVID-19 pandemic, including those who currently have no coverage and are looking to be insured.

President Joe Biden is opening health insurance enrollment on HealthCare.gov and removing some Trump administration restrictions on abortion.
