*Beware of Scammers Impersonating Insurance Representatives, Insurers e.g. Income, AIA, Singlife etc, MAS or even Police Force.***
Stay vigilant and protect yourself from individuals impersonating staff or insurance representatives from legitimate companies. Here are some important precautions to take:
โ
Always verify their identity
Verify Identity: Always confirm the identity of anyone claiming to represent an insurance company. Legitimate representatives will never claim to act on behalf of regulatory authorities such as the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).
๐ซ Never share your banking or personal info (User ID, OTP, etc.)
Protect Your Personal Information: Never share sensitive personal or banking information such as your user ID, password, one-time PIN (OTP), or security codes over the phone, email, or messaging apps. Legitimate insurance companies will not request these details through such channels.
๐ฐ Don't transfer money or pay cash to anyone claiming to represent an insurer or MAS
Avoid Unofficial Payments: Insurance representatives will never ask you to transfer money directly to them or to make cash payments on behalf of their company or any authority. To make payments, use the official payment channels such as the companyโs customer portal, AXS, internet banking, or PayNow, as instructed in your premium notice or official communication.
Stay alert and report any suspicious activity immediately to the relevant authorities or the insurance companyโs official contact channels.
The scammer would tell the victim that they have an outstanding subsidy or claim application. Read more at straitstimes.com. Read more at straitstimes.com.
