PROPOSED MASJID KUARTEL
Location: Ancestral Domain of Zambales, Central Luzon
DESIGN RATIONALE
The construction of this project will take place within the traditional territory of the indigenous people of Zambales. Aetas live in remote places due to their nomadic lifestyle; they spend most of their lives hunting and fishing and erect their temporary structures out of poles covered with palm leaves.
Our design's concept reflects the region's surroundings by being both contemporary and historic. This design, which uses solar panels while incorporating and enhancing the conventional materials, takes sustainability into account. Due to the short lifespan of adobe materials, we imitate this traditional design by combining hollow blocks, steel reinforcement, and plaster that is painted in mud clay brown, mixed with timbers stacked into walls. The rustic wooden finish is replicated by some of the other parts, which are also built of concrete to maintain the soundness of the structure.
Being a community of individuals who preach Islamic monotheism and encourage what is good while forbidding what is harmful, we do believe that the distant location of this project makes construction difficult. Nonetheless, we will make every effort to complete this project in a way that will make it simple for them to maintain a place of worship while residing in their familiar traditional location.
