2026 MDF ANNUAL SPORTS FESTIVAL

The 2026 MDF Sports Festival came to a successful close after a week filled with intense competition and celebration among participating units. From thrilling matchups to outstanding displays of teamwork and determination, the festival brought out the very best in every participating unit.

3 Malawi Rifles (3MR- Moyale Barracks) emerged as the overall champions following impressive performances across various sports disciplines. 2 Malawi Rifles (2MR- Kamuzu Barracks) secured second place, while Parachute Battalion finished third overall.

Speaking during the closing ceremony, the Commander of the Malawi Defence Force, General George Alexander Jaffu Jnr, said the festival played an important role in strengthening unity, teamwork, and camaraderie among soldiers across different units and ranks. He further encouraged participants to continue striving for excellence and aim for greater achievements, including international competitions.

As part of its corporate social responsibility, Msilikali SACCO supported the event with a sponsorship of K7 million and maintained an active presence throughout the entire week of the festival, engaging with members and supporting the activities during the competition.

The festival not only provided a platform for sports competition but also strengthened relationships, boosted morale, and reinforced the spirit of togetherness within the Malawi Defence Force.
