The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission(IEBC), in collaboration with the Evangelical Alliance of Kenya - EAK and the Kenya National Prayer and Transformation Movement, today joined faith leaders and other stakeholders to launch the Prayer and Civic Engagement Programme, an initiative aimed at promoting prayer, responsible citizenship and meaningful public participation across the country.

It aims to empower Kenyans to understand their constitutional rights and responsibilities, participate meaningfully in democratic processes, and engage peacefully and constructively in matters affecting their communities and the nation.
Speaking on behalf of IEBC Chairperson Erastus Ethekon,HSC, Commissioner Dr. Alutalala Mukhwana underscored the vital role of civic education in deepening constitutional awareness, strengthening democratic participation and fostering a culture of responsible citizenship. He commended the Church for its longstanding contribution to civic awareness and its capacity to mobilise communities around issues of national importance.
Commissioner Mukhwana expressed his honour at participating in the launch, describing the programme as an important platform for advancing national transformation by linking faith, civic responsibility and democratic engagement.
He reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to working with the Evangelical Alliance of Kenya, the Kenya National Prayer and Transformation Movement and other faith-based organisations to expand civic and voter education, promote constitutional awareness and strengthen public participation across the country.
Through such strategic partnerships, the Commission continues to champion an informed electorate, peaceful democratic engagement and inclusive participation, recognising that building a stronger democracy is a shared responsibility that calls for the active involvement of all Kenyans.
