JOIN THE TEAM - REF AD&BR
Hi, my name’s Jay and I’m one of the Support Team who work with BR and AD, two great
lads in Darlaston who have learning disabilities. Our job is to make sure they get the best
possible quality of life they can.
There’s four of us in the Team and we take turns working with Ben and Andrew - sometimes
both of them together, sometimes on their own.
Here’s just some of the things we do:
• we help the lads cook, clean, wash and shop - supporting them in their everyday life;
• but we don’t just stay at home - we go on museum visits, meals, trips and holidays;
• there’s lots of exercise too, both the lads enjoy walking, swimming and kicking a football
around in the park next to where they live; and
• they’re both keen members of Mencap and Circle of Friends, so we take them to their
regular meetings, events and day trips.
There’s truly a lovely ‘family feel’ to the work. This gives Ben and Andrew the stability and
consistency they need to thrive. Mark will be leaving the Team shortly after over twenty years
of dedicated service. He’s retiring and we wish him all the very best for the future. So now we
need to recruit a new Team member.
We’re looking for someone who:
• has a patient, caring and understanding nature;
• is good with people;
• loves to work as part of a committed team; and
• will enjoy the physical activities which are so much part of Ben and Andrew’s lives.
A driving license will be helpful, but not essential.
The position is permanent and full-time, with 35 to 42 hours a week and 2-3 paid sleep-overs.

REF TS - WS8 - Support required for a lady. x7 hours per day on a Sunday 3 weeks of the month. Every other Saturday x 7 hours each day. Must also be available for Holiday cover, which may be during the week. Will also be working with another carer. Please only apply if you have good spoken English and can drive. Ref AD & BR - Support required for two gentleman in WS10. Between 35 to 42 hours per week and 2-3 sleep overs. Learning Disability and Autism experience is required and one gentleman has MD.
• Generally helping them with their special needs;
• assistance with cooking, cleaning, washing and shopping;
• regular exercise (particularly walking and swimming);
• taking/accompanying them on events run by Mencap and Circle of Friends;
• taking/accompanying them on other social activities (museum visits, meals, trips); and
• sleepovers at their house.
Pa would be preferred who can drive and also demonstrate,
• patience;
• good spoken English;
• excellent people skills;
• a caring and understanding demeaner
• physically active - both gentleman like walking, swimming, meeting friends and group activities
• an excellent team player - the recruit will be joining a well-established and very effective Support Team.
