When your fixed rate deal is in the last 6 months you should shop around. Your current lender will revert you to their SVR if you do not renegotiate and this can sometimes be substantially higher. I often speak to clients who say “it’s easier to just stay with my current lender” which is true as the process is a lot simpler and involves less paperwork, however there are occasions where changing the lender could could save you a lot of money, especially if you are looking at a long fixed term.

You can secure a new rate for your mortgage up to 6 months before your current deal expires. If the rate secured decreases in the meantime I can move it to the lower rate for you, however if rates increased you could continue on the rate secured today.
