I'M STILL PINCHING MYSELF… BUSINESSWOMAN OF THE YEAR!

Wow… just WOW! I'm still completely lost for words!
Last night, I attended the Maidstone Business Awards, where I was absolutely honoured to be shortlisted as a finalist in two categories:

- Best Family Business
- Businesswoman of the Year

The competition was incredible, with so many inspiring local businesses and businesswomen in the room, many of them that I know, so… when my name was announced as WINNER of Businesswoman of the Year, I honestly couldn't believe it as the video shows!
Having previously been awarded runner-up, to now take home the winner's title feels even more special. I'm genuinely shocked, overwhelmed and incredibly honoured.

As all small business owners would agree, running a small business isn't always easy. Behind the scenes, there are long hours, challenges, sacrifices, plenty of determination and moments when you question yourself. But there's also so much passion, pride and love for what you do.

To have all that hard work recognised in this way means more to me than I can put into words.
None of this would be possible without the incredible people around me. My amazing family, friends and team thank you for believing in me, supporting me, encouraging me and being there through all the ups and downs. I really couldn't do this without you, and I'm so pleased to have made you all proud.

And a special shout-out to my fabulous cheer team on the night - Michelle, Anita and Katrina! Thank you for being there to share such an unforgettable moment, for cheering me on and making the evening very memorable.

A huge thank you to Penny and Carole at Maidstone Business Awards for putting together such a fantastic evening and shining a spotlight on the amazing businesses in our local community. A special mention to Paul Andrews and Rachael Bryant, who did a brilliant job hosting and keeping us entertained throughout the evening!

And, of course, a heartfelt thank you to all of the judges for giving their time to what must have been an incredibly difficult task with so many deserving finalists. I'm genuinely honoured that you saw something special in me and my business, and your recognition means more than you know
I know we all hear it often but I genuinely feel from my own journey that if you believe in yourself and work hard, even when you feel like giving up, you really can achieve anything.

And the excitement doesn't stop there…

Next month, I'm heading to the 2026 LUCA Awards, where I'm absolutely thrilled to have been shortlisted in THREE categories!

- ICB Branch of the Year

To be recognised amongst so many talented professionals in the bookkeeping industry is another huge honour, and something I'm incredibly proud of.

When bookkeepers get together, good things happen!

Lisa recently co-chaired the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB) Kent Branch meeting at the Village Hotel in Maidstone.

It was a great opportunity to bring members of the Kent branch together to get to know each other, network and share their experiences. The meeting also gave everyone the chance to ask questions, exchange advice and learn from other bookkeepers in the room.

A really enjoyable and useful get-together, and lovely to see so many members connecting and supporting one another.

We all have our fingers crossed for the upcoming Luca Awards Evening where the branch is a finalist in the category for ICB Branch of the Year 2026.
