No chain tool? No problem.

Got a quick link that needs removing but no chain pliers to hand? Grab a bit of shoelace and give this hack a go.

Thread it through the quick link, pull the ends towards each other, and, with a bit of persistence, it should pop open.

If the chain hasn’t been removed before, it might be a little stubborn… just keep at it!

Not a replacement for proper chain pliers, but a handy trick to know when you’re caught short.
