Occupants and owners of commercial premises should check that their insurance is not invalidated in any way during COVID lockdown while the premises are unoccupied.

Most insurers will allow a period of un-occupancy without any change to the terms of the insurance. After that period, cover may be reduced, withdrawn or certain conditions imposed.

It is recommended that alarms, security systems and security devices are checked on a regular basis that they are in full working order and remember to document the dates that they have been checked.
