New month, same deadline creeping closer. The tax return you keep putting off won’t file itself.
It’s November, and the Self Assessment deadline for the 2025/26 tax year is 31 January 2027, under three months away. The return that felt distant in October is now close enough to start costing sleep. Every week of delay leaves less room to find missing records, answer questions, and plan how to pay.
Putting it off has a cost beyond stress. Late filing means a £100 penalty straight away, even if you owe nothing, and daily penalties and interest build from there. Most people who miss the deadline didn’t decide to. They just kept meaning to start.
How to stop putting it off:
🔵 Book a date to hand over your records
🔵 Gather income, bank, and expense records
🔵 Flag anything missing early
🔵 Let us prepare and check the return
🔵 Approve it and know your bill
If you owe under £3,000, filing online by 30 December can also spread payment through your tax code instead of one lump sum in January.
At ABM Chartered Accountants, we collect your records, prepare your return, and file it with HMRC, then tell you exactly what is due and when. You approve it, and we do the rest. Regulated by ICAEW and ACCA.
