In between dodging some very questionable weather, it’s been a week of networking, golf and some properly good meetings...
Andy had the pleasure of a round at Brough Golf Club with Darren Peacock and Gareth Fawke of Westwood Capital Finance. We managed to get hailstones, sunshine and rain all in the same round - which takes some doing. Safe to say the highlight wasn’t the golf… but the ever-cheerful cake lady at the halfway house, who, remarkably, had a healthy stock of Prosecco for that time of the morning.
Thursday morning was a cracking breakfast hosted by Adam Wolstenholme at Bridging Finance Solutions. It was a really good opportunity to spend some proper time with Adam, Andy and Lee, away from the usual quick chats, and just get stuck into what they’re doing at BFS. Plenty of open conversation about the market, where things are heading, and where the opportunities actually are (not just the theory).
What stood out most was how easy the whole thing was - no hard sell, just good people who know their space, are honest about it, and are clearly focused on building solid, long-term relationships. Exactly the kind of people you want to be doing business with.
Steve, unsurprisingly, wasn’t there - his reluctance to leave Sheffield is well documented at this point and got a mention more than once. His recent Pétanque success also made an appearance in the conversation, so he’s continuing to build his reputation… just not geographically.
All in all, a week of good people, good conversations and plenty of laughs.
