It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our long-standing Supervisor Mrs Jean Murphy. Jean was a much-loved volunteer, such an integral part of our staff. She was dedicated and diligent in her role as supervisor. She believed fully in the ethos of the credit union, people helping people, and she demonstrated that in her work life and personal life on a daily basis. On a personal level she always provided great support, I won’t forget her laughter, love for life, and grateful for her hug’s when I needed them.
In the photograph, you can see that Cranhill Credit Union has been blessed with a long history of strong women, like my mum Ellen, Susan Blackhurst, Jean Wallace, Helen Cameron, Elizabeth Macdonald, Helen Kane, and the legend that is Betty McGreechin, who continues to volunteer.
As we are in our 50th year the so-called young ones continue to strive to meet their standards. While honouring Jean, I just want to thank all those women, who have given their time both unpaid and paid in our long history. It really is much appreciated.
Rest in Peace Jean Murphy.
