Unused pensions and death benefits could soon form part of your inheritance tax bill.

Following proposals announced in the Autumn Budget 2024, unused pension funds and certain death benefits may be included in estate values for IHT purposes from April 2027.

While the changes aren’t final yet, they could have a meaningful impact on established estate and pension plans — particularly for those who’ve built pensions with wealth transfer in mind.
