Patch testing might feel like a 5-minute formality… but from an insurance perspective, it’s one of your best friends. 👀

To your client, it’s the quick appointment before the real appointment.

To us, it’s evidence that you’ve:

• Assessed the risk
• Followed manufacturer guidance
• Taken reasonable steps to protect your client
• Put the correct procedures in place before carrying out treatment

And if something does go wrong and a claim lands on our desk, one of the first things we’ll want to know is:

Was a patch test carried out and documented where required?

Skipping one to squeeze in another appointment might save you a little time that day… but it could leave you dealing with far more than a reaction later.

Your treatment protocols and your insurance policy should always be speaking the same language. 🤝

Protect your clients. Protect your business. And document everything.

Save this as your reminder to check your patch-testing procedures. 📌

In the quest for ‘perfect’ skin, hair and brows, clients are saying yes faster than ever.

But how are you researching the products and treatments you bring into your business?

Are you relying on:
❌ TikTok trends
❌ What the rep told you
❌ ‘Everyone else is doing it’

Or are you checking:
✅ Training and qualification requirements
✅ Safety data and contraindications
✅ Whether your insurance actually covers that treatment/device

Laser, patch testing, chemical peels, new skincare lines… they all come with fine print most people skip.

Before you add something to your menu, ask:
‘If this went wrong tomorrow, would my policy protect me?’

If you’re not sure of the answer, that’s your sign to dig deeper or message your insurer.

Beauty is a force for good.

In the UK alone, we spent **£14.2 billion** on beauty last year.
From weekly nails and lashes to injectables and spa breaks, it’s clear:
we don’t just ‘like’ beauty – we rely on it.

Behind those appointments are **skilled professionals** making people feel:
• More confident
• More themselves
• More able to show up in the world

But with that impact comes responsibility. Every product you use, every treatment you offer, every client you touch is a blend of:
✨ Transformation
⚠️ Potential risk

Our job at Beauty Insured is to sit in that space with you – making sure that if something *does* go wrong, you’re not facing it alone.

Because a £14.2 billion industry deserves protection that takes it seriously.

Late August is the strangest stretch of the year. The holiday rush is done, party season hasn't started, and for about two weeks the diary has actual gaps in it.

It's the only window most people get to look at the business rather than just run it.

Four things worth using it for.

Anything you trained in this year and haven't started offering yet. Courses have a way of sitting in a drawer until the timing feels right, and September is usually when the timing feels right.

Your prices. September reads as a business decision. November looks like Christmas opportunism. If you're going to move them, move them now.

Your cashflow. September earns less than August and December, and it catches people out every year.

And your insurance. Your policy sets out what you're covered for, and it reflects the business you described when you took it out. If this year has looked different to last year, that's worth a look before things get busy.

None of it is urgent. That's rather the point of doing it now.

If something's shifted this summer and you're not sure whether it matters, send us a message. Ten minutes, no quote, no pressure.

Save this for the quiet week.

Nobody really explains what a claim looks like until you're in one, which is why most practitioners have built a picture of it from other people's worst stories.

The real version is slower and duller than that. It's forms, correspondence, waiting on responses. Most of it happens at our end, in an inbox you'll never see.

Two things genuinely worth knowing.

It doesn't always start with a letter. Sometimes it's a client saying she's taking this further, or a message that just reads like the start of something. That's the point to tell us, not once it's escalated.

And before you write back, leave three things out. Don't admit fault, don't offer to redo it for free, don't mention that you're insured. Not because you're in trouble. Those are just the bits that get complicated later, and it's easier if we do the wording with you.

Every case is different and nobody can tell you at the start how yours will go. But knowing the shape of it takes most of the fear out.

If something's landed and you're not sure what it is yet, send it over. We'd rather look at it early and tell you it's nothing.

Save this one. Easier to read now than when you need it.

You might already be using AI and automation in your beauty business without even realising it.

Booking systems. Email marketing. Chatbots. Social media tools. Client management software.

Useful? Absolutely.

But if they're handling client information or communicating on your behalf, you need to know what they're doing, what they're saying and where your responsibility still sits.

**AI isn't something to panic about. It's something to understand.**

Being insured is kinda chic. Knowing what you're actually covered for? Even chicer. 💅

Because insurance isn't exactly the glamorous part of running an aesthetics business, but understanding your cover can save you a LOT of stress when you actually need it.

Check your treatments, know your exclusions, keep your paperwork together and make sure your policy still matches what you're offering.

Basically: have your life together.

Mostly. 🤌

Save this for your next insurance admin day.

There are plenty of insurance companies out there.

But your business isn't like every other business, so why should your insurance be?

At Beauty Insured, we work with beauty professionals every day. We understand the treatments you offer, the clients you look after and the things that can sometimes go wrong.

We're here to help you understand your cover, support you when you need to make a claim and give you one less thing to worry about while you're busy doing what you do best.

Being properly insured isn't about expecting something to go wrong. It's about knowing you're protected if it does. 🤍

I think we sometimes put far too much pressure on ourselves to have the perfect Instagram.

Perfect before & afters.
A colour co-ordinated grid.
Ideal qualifications in our bio.

When you work in beauty, I honestly believe the things that make clients trust you are often much simpler:

Consistent, prompt answers to questions.
Taking the time to explain things properly.
Checking in after their treatment.
Not brushing them off if they’re worried.
Knowing how to handle things when they don't go quite to plan.
Making sure you’re properly protected, just in case.
Just doing what you said you were going to do.

Those things might not make for the most exciting Instagram content, but they're the things people remember.

I've seen first-hand how important that relationship can be, especially when something does go wrong. Having a practitioner who communicates openly and doesn't disappear can make such a difference.

So yes, keep posting your lovely results. They're important too.

But don't underestimate the value of simply being someone your clients know they can rely on. 🤍
