Back British Farming Day 2026 🇬🇧

Today is all about celebrating British farming and the important role it plays in producing the food we enjoy every day and supporting our rural communities.

Here are a few interesting farming facts you might not know:

Dinghy Week 2026 ⛵

We were pleased to once again sponsor the Walton and Frinton Yacht Club & RYA Training Centre Dinghy Week, with over 50 boats taking part in this year’s races!

It was a successful week of sailing, competition, and socialising, with entertainment throughout the week from varied bands including, Frankie & Lou, A Twist of ABBA, The Landed and Tom & Dom.

We were also pleased to see many other local businesses supporting the event including Adnams , Hipkin & Oxley Ltd Boatyard , Parkers Garden Company , Compton's Kitchens, Bedrooms & Bathrooms and Hasty's Adventure Farm

Standing together to protect our rural communities 🤝

NFU Mutual is proud to support rural communities and livelihoods across the UK and in 2025, it donated nearly £550,000 to initiatives tackling rural crime.

NFU Mutual takes great pride in being a major funder of the National Rural Crime Unit, working closely with them to share intelligence, identify at-risk areas and help disrupt rural crime.

Last week, our team at NFU Mutual Colchester and North Essex enjoyed a summer get-together at The Crown in Stoke-by-Nayland ☀️🍴

We had a fantastic meal, followed by refreshments and a lighthearted quiz based on some of our colleagues' unknown facts. It was a great opportunity to get to know each other better and share a few laughs along the way!

The afternoon also gave us the chance to celebrate our successes and recognise the individual achievements within our team.

A lovely day supporting St Helena Hospice Community Fun Day ☀️ 🐾

Our colleague Vicky Littlewood and her two corgis Trevor and Hovis enjoyed an afternoon of activities, dog competitions, refreshments and a visit to the St Helena Hospice tent!

It was great to see the local community come together to support St Helena Hospice and the vital work they do. We're pleased to have recently supported the hospice through our Agency Giving Fund and look forward to continuing to support such an important local cause💛

NFU Mutual Colchester & North Essex is proud to have nominated St Helena Hospice in Colchester once again this year to receive a £7,899 donation from the NFU Mutual Agency Giving Fund.

Our Partner, Katie Jennings, and Marketing Executive, Tianna Mead, recently visited St Helena Hospice, where they were warmly welcomed by Kirsty Smith, Hospice Matron and the wider team.

It was inspiring to hear more about the incredible and compassionate work the hospice does to support individuals and families across our local community. We also received an update on the hospice's ongoing renovation project, which will provide additional inpatient beds and enhanced facilities. These important developments will help St Helena Hospice support even more local people when they need it most, while highlighting the vital role that donations and community support play in making this possible.

Set within beautiful grounds in Highwoods, Colchester, St Helena Hospice provides specialist care both within the hospice and in people’s own homes, helping individuals and their families navigate some of life’s most difficult moments with compassion, dignity and expert support.
