PR Rolls grew profitably
all the way to a record turnover
PR Rolls’ financial year, which ended at the end of June, was very strong. The company’s turnover climbed to record levels, and operating profit also grew significantly.
“In the face of such results, you must be humble and satisfied. Especially when you consider all the challenges related to our international operating environment. Even though there are many challenges in the economy, companies have developed their operations and maintained their machinery and equipment. Customers have trusted us, and we have been able to do what we are good at. There has been plenty of work in the pulp, paper and board industries”, comments PR Rolls’ Managing Director Jani Westerlund on the past financial year.
The company’s turnover increased by 44 percent to 5.2 million euros from 3.6 million euros achieved in the previous year. The operating profit amounts to just over 0.7 million euros.
PR Rolls performed well in its traditionally strong market area in Central Europe.
“In addition to our core business, a few large deliveries to international groups boosted both turnover and operating profit. We also gained a foothold in a new market area in Africa”, Westerlund says.
Among the services offered by PR Rolls, maintenance of fibre lines and spare parts services in particular drove growth. For example, PR Rolls has developed high-quality seals for DD washers, which have been well received by customers.
According to Jani Westerlund, the outlook for the current financial year is also promising.
“There is a lot of potential in South America, and we are currently strengthening our agent network there. We have also expanded our operations and made investments in the food industry, where there is an opportunity to leverage our expertise. Similarly, the demand for field machinery in the energy sector has been positive. Additionally, we have ongoing new development projects that support growth”, Westerlund states.

PR Rolls kasvoi kannattavasti
ennätysliikevaihtoon

PR Rollsin kesäkuun lopulla päättynyt tilikausi oli erittäin vahva. Yhtiön liikevaihto kipusi ennätyslukemiin, ja myös liikevoitto kasvoi merkittävästi.

- Tällaisen tuloksen edessä on oltava nöyrä ja tyytyväinen. Varsinkin kun ottaa huomioon kaikki ne haasteet, joita kansainväliseen toimintaympäristöömme liittyy. Vaikka taloudessa on paljon haasteita, yhtiöt ovat kehittäneet toimintaansa ja huoltaneet koneitaan ja laitteitaan. Asiakkaat ovat luottaneet meihin ja me olemme saaneet tehdä sitä, mitä osaamme. Tekemistä on riittänyt niin sellu-, paperi- kuin kartonkiteollisuudessa, viime tilikautta kommentoi PR Rollsin toimitusjohtaja Jani Westerlund.

Yhtiön liikevaihto kasvoi 44 prosenttia 5,2 miljoonaan euroon edellisvuoden 3,6 miljoonasta eurosta. Liikevoitta kertyi hieman yli 0,7 miljoonaa euroa.

PR Rolls menestyi hyvin perinteisesti vahvalla markkina-alueellaan Keski-Euroopassa.

- Perustekemisen lisäksi liikevaihtoa ja liikevoittoa kasvattivat muutamat kansainvälisille konserneille tehdyt isot toimitukset. Saimme jalansijaa myös uudella markkina-alueella Afrikassa, Westerlund kertoo.

PR Rollsin tarjoamista palveluista varsinkin kuitulinjojen huolto sekä varaosapalvelu vauhdittivat kasvua. PR Rolls on esimerkiksi kehittänyt DD-pesureille korkealaatuiset tiivisteet, jotka ovat saaneet asiakkaiden keskuudessa hyvän vastaanoton.

Jani Westerlundin mukaan myös alkaneen tilikauden näkymät ovat lupaavat.

- Etelä-Amerikassa on paljon potentiaalia, ja siellä vahvistamme parhaillaan agenttiverkostoamme. Olemme myös laajentaneet toimintaamme ja tehneet investointeja elintarviketeollisuuteen, jossa on mahdollisuus hyödyntää osaamistamme. Samoin energiateollisuuden kenttäkoneistuksissa kysyntä on ollut myönteistä. Lisäksi meillä on vireillä täysin uusia, kasvua tukevia kehityshankkeita, Westerlund toteaa.

PR Rolls laajentaa on-site
palveluitaan elintarviketeollisuuteen

PR Rollsin uusi Tecno Diamond FS-pinnoite on saavuttanut elintarvikehyväksynnän. PR Rollsin toimitusjohtajan Jani Westerlundin mukaan hyväksynnän myötä yhtiö laajentaa on-site palveluidensa tarjontaa elintarviketeollisuuteen ja siellä rumpukuivainten pinnoitusmarkkinoille.

- FoodSafe-projektissa kehitimme yhteistyössä Tampereen yliopiston kanssa termisen pinnoitteen, joka soveltuu erinomaisesti varsinkin rumpukuivaimille. Tecno Diamond FS-pinnoite on erityisen kulutuskestävä, homogeenisesti tasalaatuinen ja se tarjoaa tehokkaan suojan happamuutta vastaan sekä kestää kovaa kaavarointia. Olemassa olevien sylintereiden hionta ja pinnoitus on järkevä vaihtoehto uusien sylintereiden hankinnalle, joten olemme investoineet myös laitekantaan, joka on tarkoitettu nimenomaan elintarviketeollisuuden tarpeisiin.

Westerlund näkee kansainvälisessä elintarviketeollisuudessa merkittävän markkinapotentiaalin PR Rollsin on-site palveluille.

- On hienoa päästä hyödyntämään PR Rollsin vahvaa kokemusta ja osaamista vaativista on-site palveluista täysin uudella teollisuudenalalla. Teimme viime tilikaudella ennätysliikevaihdon, ja odotamme elintarviketeollisuudesta seuraavaa kasvun tukijalkaa, joka vahvistaa myös kannattavuutta.

Elintarvikehyväksyntä tarkoittaa, että Tecno Diamond FS-pinnoite on läpäissyt EU-suositusten mukaiset liukenemistestit. Testaukset suoritti riippumaton ulkopuolinen laboratorio. Lisäksi pinnoitteesta on laadittu vaatimustenmukaisuusasiakirja.

PR Rolls Expands Its On-Site Services to the Food Industry.
PR Rolls’ new Tecno Diamond FS coating has received food-grade approval. According to Jani Westerlund, CEO of PR Rolls, the approval enables the company to expand its on-site service offering to the food industry, particularly into the drum dryer coating market.
“In the FoodSafe project, we developed a thermal coating in cooperation with Tampere University that is especially well suited for drum dryers. The Tecno Diamond FS coating is exceptionally wear-resistant, homogeneously consistent, and provides effective protection against acidity while withstanding intense scraping. Grinding and coating existing cylinders is a sensible alternative to acquiring new ones, so we have also invested in equipment specifically designed to meet the needs of the food industry,” Westerlund says.
Westerlund sees significant market potential for PR Rolls’ on-site services in the international food industry.
“It’s exciting to leverage PR Rolls’ strong experience and expertise in demanding on-site services in a completely new industry. Last fiscal year we achieved record revenue, and we expect the food industry to become a new pillar of growth that also enhances profitability.”
Food-grade approval means that the Tecno Diamond FS coating has passed EU-recommended migration tests for coatings. The tests were conducted by an independent external laboratory. A declaration of conformity has also been prepared for the coating.
