Yesterday morning in Vilnius was all about getting a clearer, more honest picture of the Baltic startup ecosystem 🇱🇹🇱🇻🇪🇪

Practica Capital and FIRSTPICK presented the Annual Baltic Funding Report, digging into what’s really happening across Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia - from funding dynamics and exit patterns to how founder–investor relationships are evolving in the Baltics.

We also enjoyed the panel “Life of an Investor 2025”, moderated by Tim Vaino (Practica Capital), with Superhero Capital partner Gytenis Galkis joining the conversation alongside Linda Võeras (Karma Ventures) and Egita Polanska (Outlast Fund) to reflect on what the next chapter looks like from the investor side.

TheStorage a Superhero Capital portfolio company - has installed its first industrial-scale sand battery at Finnish brewery Nokian Panimo Oyj, now producing fossil fuel-free steam for real production lines 🌍♻️

Industrial heat is one of the toughest challenges in decarbonisation: it needs to be reliable year-round, and it’s still largely powered by fossil fuels. TheStorage’s solution is both simple and powerful - use renewable electricity when it’s abundant ⚡️, store it as high-temperature heat in sand 🏗️, and deliver it on demand for industrial processes.

One more announcement - a good way to open the year 💥🦸‍♀️

Today we’re sharing another new investment: Superhero Capital led Skene’s €800k pre-seed round, alongside participation from NVIDIA executives 🤝

Skene is building autonomous AI agents that understand a product from the code up and guide users to the outcomes that matter. In practice, that means helping software teams turn strong tools into products that get adopted, retained, and paid for - without building a big sales/support layer just to make growth happen ⚡️

What pulled us in is the angle: Skene doesn’t rely on surface-level analytics. Their agents read real product logic, so guidance can be more accurate, more contextual, and improve as the product evolves 🧠🔧 And the founding team - Teemu Kinos, Teppo Hudsson, and Michele Boggia - brings repeat-builder experience with deep AI/NLP expertise.

Sharing a proud moment from our portfolio: Cactos and Behavix are featured in this month’s WIRED magazine 🗞️👀

⚡ Cactos is making battery energy storage easy for businesses, using a 10-year lease model backed by infrastructure-style capital - meaning lower-risk funding for the hardware side, no dilution, and better pricing for customers.

📊 Behavix is taking on the market research industry by replacing surveys with real-time behavioral data. Their opt-in mobile meter app tracks things like app usage, browsing activity, ads seen, search terms, and online purchases - and is already used by market research firms, hedge funds, and tech companies globally.

This year marked 10 years since Superhero Capital began and gave us a chance to look back at the journey so far. In 2025, we reviewed over 1,000 startups, partnered with 10 new teams, and stayed close to the ecosystem by attending 80+ startup events across the region 🌍🦸‍♂️
