Rumänisches Kulturinstitut Berlin RKI ist eines der 19 rumänischen Kulturinstitute, die weltweit tätig sind. Das Rumänische Kulturinstitut wurde 1999 gegründet.

Es ist eines der 19 rumänischen Kulturinstitute, die derzeit auch in Brüssel, Istanbul, Madrid, Prag, Stockholm, Venedig, Peking, Budapest, Lissabon, New York, Rom, Tel Aviv, Wien, Kisinau, London, Paris, Szeged, und Warschau tätig sind. Seit 2003 ist das Rumänische Kulturinstitut Mitgründer der Gemeinschaft der Europäischen Kulturinstitute in Berlin (GEK) und seit 2006 Mitglied des EUNIC Netzwerkes (European National Institutions of Culture).

: Cristina Negucioiu at Babylon Europa 2026 🇪🇺✨

Romania will be represented at Babylon Europa 2026 by performance artist Cristina Negucioiu, whose interdisciplinary practice unfolds at the intersection of performance, dance, theatre, and visual arts.

Based in Berlin, Cristina’s work explores embodiment, ritual, spirituality, and processes of individual and collective transformation. Rooted in both physical and conceptual research, her performances often integrate movement, text, video, and objects, while remaining centered on the body as a primary medium of artistic expression.

Through her interest in collaborative processes, artistic experimentation, and collective performance formats, Cristina’s practice resonates strongly with the spirit of Babylon Europa 2026 - a residency dedicated to co-creation, dialogue, and artistic exchange across Europe.

🎶 On 21 June 2026, audiences are invited to discover the results of this unique international collaboration during Babylon Europa at ufaFabrik, Berlin, presented as part of Fête de la Musique.

🇪🇺 Europe comes together in Berlin.

🎶 On 21 June 2026, BABYLON EUROPA returns to ufaFabrik for a day dedicated to artistic exchange, collaboration, and shared experiences across borders.

✨ This year’s edition explores Europe as a space of co-creation. For five days, artists from nine European countries and diverse artistic fields - music, performance, dance, and theatre - work together in residence, bringing different languages, stories, and artistic practices into dialogue. The result is a unique live performance created especially for the Fête de la Musique.

🇷🇴 Romania will be represented by artist Cristina Negucioiu, alongside artists from Belgium (Wallonia-Brussels and East Belgium), Cyprus, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Slovakia, and Ukraine.

🎭 From 14:00 onwards, ufaFabrik will transform into a European village with performances, encounters, discussions, and culinary experiences. At 20:00, audiences are invited to discover the final BABYLON EUROPA show - the outcome of a week of collective artistic creation.

🎞️ Alexandra Gulea ist Filmemacherin, bildende Künstlerin und Filmeditorin. Ihre Filme lassen sich als soziale Gedichte charakterisieren.

Meet the Artists: Andreea Vălean & Daniel Alexandru Dragomir

🏆 Wir stellen das Team hinter dem choreografischen Werk „Femina“ vor, das Rumänien beim internationalen Wettbewerb „Choreography 40“ in Hannover (11.-13. Juni) vertreten wird.

🌟Andreea Vălean ist Ballerina und Performerin und seit 2017 Mitglied des Balletts der rumänischen Nationaloper Bukarest. Derzeit arbeitet sie mit dem Ballett der Bühnen Halle in Deutschland zusammen. Mit einer umfangreichen internationalen Laufbahn verbindet sie auf beeindruckende Weise die Strenge der klassischen Technik mit der Ausdruckskraft des zeitgenössischen Tanzes.

🎬Daniel Alexandru Dragomir ist Choreograf, Dozent und Gründer der unabhängigen Kompanie Contemporary Creative Dreamers. Er hat eine eigene Methodik entwickelt, die physische Grenzen und die Aufrichtigkeit des performativen Akts erforscht und zeichnet für zahlreiche erfolgreiche internationale Projekte verantwortlich.

🤝Durch ihr gemeinsames Schaffen verwandeln die beiden Bewegung in eine intensive Erforschung immaterieller Zustände und die Suche nach dem Absoluten.

Cristian Sandrins Programm ist von Prosperos Rede in Shakespeares „Der Sturm” inspiriert, in der er über die Vergänglichkeit des Lebens nachsinnt: „Wir sind aus solchem Stoff wie der zu Träumen“. ✨

Ausgehend von dieser poetischen Reflexion entfaltet sich ein musikalischer Bogen hin zu den Anfängen der Romantik – einer Zeit, in der Komponisten begannen, die formalen und emotionalen Grenzen der Klassik zu überschreiten und eine neue Ausdruckssprache zu entwickeln.

Das Programm vereint Klaviersonaten von Mozart, Beethoven und Schubert und zeichnet ein Spannungsfeld zwischen Klarheit und Auflösung, Struktur und Emotion, Intimität und dramatischer Verdichtung.

On 28 May, we were delighted to welcome artists, curators, and friends of the institute to the opening of “Dialogues of Wonder” at the gallery of the Romanian Cultural Institute in Berlin. ✨

Featuring recent works by KITRA (Nicu Duță) and curated by Alexandra Crasnaru Dragomir, the exhibition explores the dynamic tension between order and uncertainty through visually rigorous, mathematically structured compositions. Working with geometric grid systems, Kitră develops cycles of drawings, paintings, photography, and a site-specific intervention that reflect an ongoing investigation into structure, variation, and perception.

The evening brought together artists and guests for conversations, both inside the gallery and in the warm early summer air outside.

The title “Dialogues of Wonder” refers to a shared space of curiosity and reflection between artist and viewer. Visitors are invited to submit questions to the artist throughout the exhibition, extending the dialogue beyond the gallery space.

We are grateful for the warm atmosphere and the many guests who joined us for the opening evening. 🎉

“Dialogues of Wonder” is on view until 7 August 2026 at the gallery of the Romanian Cultural Institute (Reinhardtstraße 14, Berlin-Mitte), Tuesday to Friday, 4-7 pm. We look forward to welcoming you! ✨
