🚨 Cyprus strengthens its fintech licensing framework! 🇨🇾💳

From 3 August 2026, the Central Bank of Cyprus has introduced a new licensing process for Electronic Money Institutions (EMIs) and Payment Institutions (P*s), marking another important step in enhancing transparency, regulatory standards, and the quality of applicants entering the market.

✅ A mandatory pre-application exploratory stage
✅ A €5,000 non-refundable pre-application fee
✅ Enhanced due diligence requirements where necessary
✅ Clearer procedures and stricter timelines for licensing applications

These updates reinforce Cyprus' commitment to maintaining a robust, well-regulated financial services sector while supporting sustainable growth in the fintech industry. 🌍📈
