☀️ Well… summer sure knew how to keep us on our toes!

Between mortgage approvals, paperwork, rate questions, “can we make this work?” conversations (spoiler alert: we LOVE trying 😏), and everything else life decided to throw our way… it was a BUSY one!
And it wasn’t all mortgages around here. We had some pretty big things happening with our team, too! 🥂✨

💍 Our very own Janaya got married! We absolutely loved celebrating her and watching one of our favourite team members start this exciting new chapter. 🤍
📚 And Sydney passed her mortgage exam! 🎉 We couldn’t be more proud of her and all the hard work she put in to make it happen.

Safe to say, summer gave us plenty to celebrate — and we’re feeling pretty darn grateful. ❤️
Grateful for the clients who trusted us with their biggest financial decisions.
Grateful for the referrals, the check-ins, the happy dances and the “YOU GOT APPROVED!” messages.
And grateful that we get to do what we do alongside some pretty amazing people. 🏡✨

📣 Grandma, did you hear? There was no change to the Bank of Canada’s policy rate?!

🏦📉 BANK OF CANADA HITS PAUSE... AGAIN

For the 5th straight announcement, the Bank of Canada has held its key interest rate. The prime rate stays at 4.45%.

While this move was expected, the big question remains: When will rates start moving again? 👀

Here’s the quick breakdown:

📊 The Economy
• Canada’s economy shrank slightly in the first quarter (-0.1%)
• Consumer spending is still growing
• Business investment remains weak
• Exports fell while imports climbed

💸 Inflation Update
• Inflation rose to 2.8% in April
• Higher oil prices are a major reason
• Food prices are still rising, but at a slower pace
• Core inflation is sitting closer to the Bank’s 2% target

🏠 Housing & Jobs
• Housing activity has slowed
• Shelter inflation continues to ease
• Employment has been mostly flat this year
• Unemployment remains around 6.6%

🌎 What’s Happening Globally?
• Ongoing conflict in the Middle East continues to impact energy prices and supply chains
