LOWER MONTHLY PAYMENTS DO NOT ALWAYS MEAN A BETTER DEAL.

Many people focus only on one question:

“Can I afford the monthly payment?”

But the monthly payment tells only part of the story.

A longer repayment term may reduce your monthly payment, but it can also significantly increase the total interest you pay. That car, appliance, phone, or loan could end up costing far more than the original price.

Before agreeing to financing, ask:

What is the interest rate?

How much interest will I pay over the full term?

What is the total amount I will repay?

You may get what you want today, but the price you pay tomorrow could be more than you can comfortably afford.

Do not focus only on the monthly payment.

Focus on the total cost.
