Applying for a mortgage can involve a lot of paperwork. A little organization upfront can save you time, reduce back-and-forth, and help keep your application moving smoothly.
1️⃣ Keep your documents organized
Create one folder on your computer for your mortgage documents. Keeping everything in one place makes it much easier to find what you need when your broker asks for it.
2️⃣ Keep your down payment in one account, if possible
If you can, keep your down payment funds in one account rather than moving money between several accounts. This makes it easier to verify and track your funds.
3️⃣ Send complete statements
When your broker asks for a bank statement, make sure you provide the full statement, including your name, account information, transaction history, and statement dates.
4️⃣ Don't wait until the last minute
Some documents may take time to obtain, especially tax documents, employment letters, or statements from financial institutions. Getting organized early can make the process much smoother.
Every mortgage file is different, but being prepared applies to every file.
