With the end of the year approaching fast, the investment deadlines are just around the corner for your registered investments. Here's a refresher on the contribution levels for 2025 and 2026 for your wealth planning.

✅ TFSA contribution limits

Year Annual TFSA limit

2025 $ 7,000

2026 $ 7,000 (same as 2025)

For someone who has been eligible since 2009 (or since they turned 18 after that), the cumulative TFSA contribution room by 2026 will be C$ 109,000 assuming no prior contributions.

Any unused room from previous years carries forward indefinitely, and withdrawals add back to your contribution room the following year.

🏦 RRSP contribution limits

For 2025, the maximum “dollar limit” is C$ 32,490.

For 2026, the maximum is projected to increase to C$ 33,810

Important caveats (as with standard RRSP rules):

The actual amount you can deduct (i.e. contribute tax-deductibly) is the lesser of 18% of your “earned income” from the prior year or the annual dollar limit.

If you have an employer pension plan, your limit may be reduced by a “pension adjustment.”

Any unused RRSP contribution room carries forward indefinitely.
