Insurance isn't really about insurance.

It's about protecting choices.

The choice to keep your home.
The choice to keep your business running.
The choice to maintain your lifestyle.
The choice to focus on recovery instead of finances.

Many people insure their vehicles, homes, and businesses.

Far fewer adequately insure their ability to earn an income.

If your income stopped tomorrow, how long would your current plan work?

It's an important question—and one worth exploring.

One thing I've learned from working with hundreds of individuals and business owners:

Financial confidence doesn't come from having all the answers.

It comes from having a plan.

The people who feel most confident about their finances aren't necessarily the wealthiest.

They're the ones who understand where they are today and where they're heading tomorrow.

Clarity creates confidence.

BC just raised the minimum wage to $18.25/hour.

And this fall, PST is expanding to more professional services, including accounting, legal, and engineering.

For many business owners, that means one thing:

Higher operating costs.

Most people are focused on the business impact.

Margins.
Payroll.
Cash flow.

But the part that often gets overlooked is your personal financial structure.

When costs rise, your financial strategy needs to become more intentional, not less.

How do you pay yourself?

How are you protecting income?

What are you keeping after tax?

Whether your current structure still makes sense in today's environment.

Your business may absorb the pressure.

Your personal financial plan shouldn't have to.

If you haven't reviewed your structure recently, let’s look at the full picture together.

One of the most expensive financial decisions is often doing nothing.

Waiting to invest.

Waiting to save.

Waiting to update insurance.

Waiting to create a plan.

We often think we'll have more time later.
But time is one of the most powerful financial assets we have.

Small actions taken today can have a significant impact years from now.

What financial task have you been putting off that future-you would thank you for completing this month?

Marketing plans.

Hiring plans.
Revenue targets.

But what about your personal financial plan?

Your business is a tool to support your life—not the other way around.

If something happened to your business tomorrow, would your personal financial goals still be on track?

That's a question every entrepreneur should ask themselves.

Most incorporated business owners are still maxing out their RRSPs.

And at $33,810 for 2026, that already feels significant.

But for incorporated professionals over 40 who are drawing T4 income from their corporation, there may be another strategy worth exploring.

It’s called an Individual Pension Plan (IPP).

An IPP can allow for larger retirement contributions over time, with contributions generally deductible at the corporate level.

And in 2026, more incorporated business owners are starting to pay attention to it.

The issue usually isn’t awareness.

It’s that no one has actually sat down to compare the numbers and determine whether it makes sense for their situation.

If your retirement strategy hasn’t been reviewed since you incorporated, it may be time for a second look.

Comment “IPP” and we can show you what this could look like for your situation.

We're almost halfway through the year.

Have you checked in on the financial goals you set in January?

Not just the revenue goals.
Not just the savings goals.

The goals that were supposed to create more freedom, less stress, and more options for your future.

Take a moment and ask yourself:

✔️ Am I on track?
✔️ What has changed since January?
✔️ What financial opportunities have I missed?
✔️ What financial risks have appeared?

The most successful financial plans aren't created once and forgotten—they're reviewed and adjusted as life changes.

What's one financial goal you're still committed to achieving before the end of 2026?

Drop it in the comments or send me a message. I'd love to hear what you're working toward.

Most business owners insure their buildings, equipment, vehicles, and inventory.

But what about the asset that generates all of that value?

You.

Your ability to earn an income is often your greatest financial asset. Yet many entrepreneurs are underinsured when it comes to protecting themselves against illness, disability, or premature death.

Insurance isn't about expecting the worst. It's about creating options when life doesn't go according to plan.

A strong insurance strategy can help:
✔ Protect your family
✔ Cover business expenses
✔ Maintain cash flow
✔ Preserve long-term financial goals
✔ Give you peace of mind

If your business depends on you, your protection plan deserves the same attention as your business plan.

Let's have a conversation about protecting what matters most.

Most business owners are carrying more than people realize.

Managing the business.
Leading a team.
Handling rising costs.
Trying to plan for the future while keeping everything moving today.

And somewhere in the middle of all that, personal financial planning often gets pushed aside.

But the right financial strategy shouldn’t add more stress to your plate.

It should help create clarity.

Structure.

Confidence.

And support decisions that align with both your business goals and your personal life.

Because success isn’t just about growing revenue.

It’s about building a life and business that actually work together.

If you’re feeling stretched between business decisions and personal financial planning, let’s talk.

Most business owners have a plan for their business.

Revenue goals.

Growth targets.

Marketing strategies.

Hiring plans.

But when was the last time you reviewed the plan for your life?

One of the biggest challenges I see among entrepreneurs is that business success often becomes the financial plan. The business becomes the retirement plan, the investment strategy, and the safety net.

The problem? A successful business and a successful financial future aren't always the same thing.

In this month's article, I explore why every business owner needs a personal financial roadmap—not just a business plan—and share five important questions to help you assess whether your financial life is aligned with the future you're working so hard to build.

I'd love to hear your thoughts:

What is one personal goal you're working toward this year that has nothing to do with business growth or revenue?
