If you are travelling out-of-country, and you have purchased Trip Cancellation/Interruption Insurance (individual or through a group plan), contact your carrier if you are concerned about delays or changes due to fuel shortages. Note: Terrorist attacks are typically not covered at all. The following is an update from Manulife.

Ongoing jet fuel shortages worldwide are disrupting air travel. Effective May 5, 2026, Manulife considers the current situation a ‘known event’ with respect to Manulife Trip Cancellation and Interruption Insurance coverage.

Did you know?
If you own property as "Tenants in common", your share does not automatically go to your spouse/partner upon your death. Instead, your share passes into your estate to be distributed according to your WILL or intestacy laws.
****Check the ownership of your property and ensure it's registered as "Joint Tenants with right of survivorship), if this coincides with your wishes.

From one of our advisors, —— I recently visited a client’s farm, and it made me reflect on how life comes full circle.

We gathered around their kitchen table—talking about their new barn, livestock additions, and dreams for future growth. INSURANCE TIP OF THE DAY!
If you have a personally-owned life insurance policy on the life of someone else, it is wise to ensure that you have named a CONTINGENT OWNER in the unfortunate event of your death. Otherwise, that policy will either become owned by your estate or if there is cash value in the policy, most likely terminated to disperse the cash. Neither are ideal.

Insurance Tip of The Day!
If you have a policy set up with "Annual Payments", check the payment due date. Due to the postal strike, you will not be receiving the paper invoice and many insurance carriers do not automatically email this to you. Do not jeopardize your coverage. CONTACT YOUR BROKER IF YOU ARE UNSURE OF THE DUE DATE.

Insurance advice for this fine Friday!
It is almost back-to-school time once again. If you have a student(s) attending post-secondary school and have a drug/dental plan through your employer, remember to contact the insurance carrier to advise, so that your child remains covered on your plan. Also, you typically have the option to waive the coverage provided by the school, which will reduce the tuition fee.
