It’s about time I share this news!!

Over the summer I decided it was time for a change in careers and last month I began working for The Latest Scoop as an Assistant Buyer!

I’m beyond excited to be working for my dream career in fashion but also sad to be transitioning out of this amazing industry. I’ve made so many wonderful connections and I’m so grateful to everyone who helped me succeed in this role.

Let's talk about this "huge" rate hike! 😬

As you probably know by now, Bank of Canada increased the rate by 0.50%. This only applies to you if you are in a variable or adjustable rate mortgage.

You may be panicked at the large increase but let's put it into dollars. Monthly payments on a $300,000 mortgage amortized over 25 years, would increase by about $75. To lock in to a fixed rate at this time, you would see about a $250 increase in your payments.

Right now, there is quite a large spread between variable and fixed. Not only that but a variable is a great way to keep your mortgage flexible with significantly less penalties to exit.

Market’s hot like a summer day in NYC 🔥

Tips for spring market:

👉🏻 Get pre-approved - rates are increasing and it’s a good idea to get a rate held now!

👉🏻 If your down payment is coming from the sale of your house, consider a HELOC just in case you find the home first.

👉🏻 Don’t get discouraged! I know multiple offer situations can be frustrating but everything happens for a reason, the right home is just around the corner 😉

It officially happened: the Bank of Canada has increased the overnight rate to 0.5%. Anyone who is in a variable rate mortgage will see a slight increase in their rate and it is a good time to see if you are leaving money on the table with your current rate.

The Bank of Canada today increased its target for the overnight rate to ½ %, with the Bank Rate at ¾ % and the deposit rate at ½ %.
