Major changes to mortgage qualification were announced by the Liberal Government yesterday.

The big change, mortgage qualification rates were changed from the contract rate of your mortgage, to the Bank's Posted 5 year rate. In short, this means that if you're going to be needing a mortgage in the near future, these changes will drastically reduce the size of a mortgage you'll be able to qualify for.

The changes go into effect on October 17th, 2016 so if you're even possibly THINKING of buying a home in the near future, you should talk to a mortgage broker TODAY and find out how this change will be affecting you.
