A new study released by the Canadian Cancer Society, in collaboration with Statistics Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada, shows that while cancer continues to have a significant impact on Canadians, overall cancer rates are declining thanks to improvements in prevention, screening, early detection and treatment.
Lung, breast, prostate, and colorectal cancers are projected to account for 47% of all new cases.
When we talk about statistics, it’s also important to talk about the people that make up those numbers. Like Annie Enault, who received an unexpected diagnosis of stage 4 lung cancer at 49 years old, despite never having smoked.
Annie is receiving a targeted therapy which has helped stabilize her life, which was made possible through research. When you support the Canadian Cancer Society, you help fund the most promising science to increase cancer survival for people like Annie.
