Well….today was her official last day of high school! It feels like she just started kindergarten and here we are watching my bestuitful daughter embark into the next season of her life with starting at Grant MacEwan in the fall. We could not be more proud of her and all her achievements including the Tracy Wright Memorial scholarship from Vimy Ridge High school nominated specifically by her teachers.

We love you Hannah and know that you are going to do big things in this world with the heart that you have for people.

So grateful to our friend Carly who took this amazing photos for us

If we were not able to work due to an insure or illness, how would that affect our income? Many people who don’t have disability insurance end up not fully recovering from their injury or illness because they are forced to go back to work early due to the financial stress. For others, they don’t have any other options but to drain their savings and go into their line of credits.

The good news is that there is the option to insurance your income through DISABILITY insurance.

Most people do pay into EI through work and some others do have group benefits which pays them a portion of their income if you can’t work. (Though both usually aren’t quite enough to cover the bills) This is where you can top it up with personal coverage.

But what about the rest who don’t have either of those. Are you financially prepared if something was to happen?

What does planning today look like for your future? As a parent, I have the opportunity to teach my children about finances and how what looks like.

From getting a job to setting a goal to buy something. Tracking your expenses and putting it into a budgeting app. Splitting your money up into savings and spending.

As an adult, there are other important financial decisions when it comes to your finances. From putting money away for school to starting your first TFSA or RRSP.

Getting some sort of insurance whether that be life or critical illness or disability insurance is crucial as these decisions are exactly what your future self will thank you for.

Whatever it is, take time this year to step out and make those decisions that your future self will thank you for.

Well…this is 42. What a year it has been. Let’s start off with saying thank you to everybody who wished me a happy birthday today. I felt so loved 🫶

There are a few things I was reminded of this last year. I will share a couple of them…

1. Joy and sorrow can coexist at the same time. Watching our long life friends say goodbye to their mother and my parents losing their best friend mixed with reconnecting through tears and laughter.
2. My children who are growing up way too fast but also loving this stage with them. The memories we have been made, the conversations we had, even the hard moments of disagreement has made us better people because we don’t give up on the most important thing - connection.
3. Taking risks sounds like fun but involve a lot of hard work. Watching my husband who continues to work while getting his masters in counseling all while caring for his wife and children reminds me that I am one lucky lady to have snatched him up over 20 years ago.

I could go on about so much more but I will save that for another post.

Here’s to another year around the sun ☀️ Whatever this year holds, I will face it head on and make the most of every opportunity while still remembering to take time for family and friends and myself.

Anybody else struggle with perfection? 🙋‍♀️

Over the years as a mother and business owner, I have had to learn to keep focused on my purpose vs what I can do and how successful it can look. I tell my piano students all the time that it’s about progress, not perfection. I still find myself on days comparing and listening to that voice of doubt. But that voice is getting quieter and I am staying strong to my focus.

Our purpose can change a little in life as we enter different seasons. But ultimately my purpose in all I do is to be genuine and honest. To be there for my children and husband as they need me. To show up for my clients and provide them with the best care I can.

Share with me what you feel your purpose in life is in the comments below
