Every fall, the time change brings up the same question: do we move our clocks forward or backward?

This year, our clocks will go back one hour overnight from Saturday, October 31, to Sunday, November 1, 2026.

Although our devices generally update the time automatically, the time change can still affect your travel plans and certain travel routines.

For many snowbirds, the countdown has begun.

If you plan to spend 30 days or more in the United States this winter, certain administrative formalities deserve your attention before departure. As last year, many travelers are already familiar with the I-94 form, an important formality for extended stays in the United States.

For travelers arriving by air or by boat, it is generated automatically upon entry into the country. For land crossings, a new development could simplify the process. NEXUS cardholders can now, in certain situations, use their NEXUS admission to satisfy registration requirements, avoiding the procedures associated with the I-94.

For travelers who instead choose to complete their registration after arrival, Form G-325R remains an option. However, this process requires more personal information and is generally perceived as more intrusive.

A few minutes of preparation today can save you many questions at the border tomorrow.
