With a background that includes senior roles at Scotia Capital, Jaguar Capital, and Maple Leaf Angels, Gerard brings unmatched expertise in real estate financing, governance, and entrepreneurial growth. In 2015, he was named Angel Investor of the Year and he has served as Lead Director of MLA48LP, an angel investment fund, as well as on the Ontario Securities Commission’s SME Committee. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Gerard is deeply committed to giving back. Together with his wife Mary, he has supported countless initiatives, including YMCA Simcoe Muskoka Swimming Scholarships, the Inclusive Halloween Party, and the Children’s Treatment Network. Gerard also founded the Gerard Buckley Cadet Fund, which has raised over $390,000 and provided grants to more than 86 cadet corps across Canada. His dedication to youth and community service has been recognized with the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal, the Army Cadet League’s Volunteer Service Medal, and most recently, the Chief of Defence Staff Citation. A Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers and a Certified Management Consultant, Gerard continues to share his expertise through speaking and writing on governance, finance, and social responsibility. Residing in Collingwood, Gerard and Mary enjoy skiing, cycling, and time with their four children and grandchildren.
