Another year passed and another year of amazing donations collected by the staff at Y&H for the kids at the Alberta Childrens Hospital Foundation.

By now you’ve probably heard about Catalytic Converter theft. According to our friends at Aviva Catalytic Converter theft saw an increase of 123% in 2021. We suspect that number is going to grow further in 2022.

Catalytic Converter theft can happen to any vehicle but there are some vehicles that are more popular than others to thieves:
- Hyundai Tucson
- Mitsubishi RVR
- Honda CR-V
- Hyundai Santa Fe
- Ford F150

Those living in the Greater Toronto Area, Ottawa, Montreal, Calgary & Edmonton areas are at the highest risk of converter theft.

So what can you do to deter theft?
- Have your VIN engraved onto the converter. This may make the part harder to sell to a scrapyard
- Park your car in a garage, or in a very well lit & secure area
- Consider buying a converter cage that can be installed on your vehicle

Replacing the converter can be costly and thanks to global supply chain issues it can take a while for replacement parts to arrive. If your converter has been stolen contact the police and your insurance agent.

The Northern Hail Project (sister project of the Northern Tornadoes Project) has documented the largest hailstone in Canadian history from northwest of , during Monday's storms.

12.3cm (4.84in) and 292.71g (0.65lbs). 🤯

Our thoughts remain with those affected by the significant hail damage on Monday.
