📚My whole life, reading books has meant 'adventure' and 'escape' to me - I could lose myself between the pages for hours at a time. ✨
🏃🏻♀️🏢Then with life, work, and that ever-present 'busy-ness', there came a voice that started saying "we don't have time right now, maybe later" or "work is more important"...if I did eventually get around to it I'd fall asleep after 2 pages. But yet, I'd find time to 'scroll'...hmmm. 🤨
So I started exploring audio books and found I could enjoy listening while walking the dog or cleaning the house or driving errands.
This added enjoyment to routine tasks and gave my brain a much needed break from 'work thoughts' or 'I should do' thoughts. I'd feel reset after a 30 minute listen.
A 'REAL' book - still hard to beat the experience of a real book, though. Out of these ones listed, American Dirt and The Correspondent were 'real' books - one a gift from years ago and the other bought in an airport gift shop in Vegas.
Both completely excellent.
Once read, I don't hold on to my 'real' books. Instead, I share them forward, either through the little library boxes in my area or to a friend who I think might enjoy it. The adventure that keeps on adventuring!
So whether it's reading, drawing, trying new recipes, learning a sport, or something else that you feel you're too busy to do, consider setting new rules to make the time - I promise you'll be glad you did ✨
